Identifying Herbivory.

Herbivory is defined as the consumption of vegetation, either wild or cultivated. Common causes of herbivory include a variety of mammal species, such as groundhogs and deer, and multiple insect species. It is characterized by large portions of missing leaf matter, the presence of bite marks, and the absence of cultivated crops.

Common methods to reduce herbivory on agricultural farms include fences that are roughly ten feet high and extend undground several feet. Removal of pest species also occurs through pesticides and trapping.
